Club AGM Kicks off 2014
A successful AGM took place last week as many important issues were raised and discussed on the night. Everyone was welcomed and complemented on their dedicated efforts in what was once again a very good year for the club.
The committee extended a special thanks to parents for their help and continued interest throughout the year. The club’s excellent coaches were complimented but an invitation was also opened for more people to become involved in the coaching at the club. Chairman Richie Browne addressed the congregation with a run through of the year gone by and lots of valuable points and issues were discussed. Treasurer Breda Keane thanked everyone who helped and contributed to the club’s finances throughout the year. The following officers were elected:
Chairperson: Richie Browne, Vice-Chairperson: Jim Barry, Hon. President: Tom Riordan, Secretary: John Behan, Treasurer: Breda Keane, PRO: Margaret Behan, Vice Treasurer: Eleanor Kiely, Child Welfare Officers: Ann Cantwell and Breda Keane.
There is a number of coaching courses coming up in the Munster area over the coming months. They provide an excellent starting point for anyone interested in moving into the area of coaching within athletics.
Level One Coaching: RSC, Waterford: March 7th/8th and 21st/22nd (6-9pm on Fridays and 9-5pm Saturdays)
Assistant Coach Course: Templemore, Tipperary: March 15th (9-5pm)
If any club members or indeed other members of the community wish to become active in this area, please contact the club through the website www.kckac.ie
Some of the club’s older athletes are currently starting back training, between circuit training, winter leagues and track sessions; the older athletes should make it their business to get back into training as soon as possible. It has been decided that the younger athletes will re-start at the end of March.
The club’s membership continues to grow and new members are always welcomed. With health and fitness never more as important in today’s busy living. KCK provides a great opportunity for all those who wish to pursue athletics or even just to get fit and stay healthy. Training will recommence for all athletes in March.
The annual club registration will be collected as soon as training re-starts. The club has decided to leave the registration fee unchanged at a very reasonable €20 for children and €25 for adults. This fee covers insurance for the individual and also their affiliation to Athletics Association of Ireland. It is important that this fee is paid by anyone attending training or competitions to ensure they are covered by insurance.
KCK Athletes in Competition
KCK athletes have been busy over the last few weeks competing and taking part in various competitions. Róisín Dunphy, Emily Keane, Rena Behan, Percy O’Callaghan, Michael Behan have all been busy competing in the schools cross country championships with good results flowing.
